Research on exsisting college magazines

Example.

First Analysis

This is the example I closely examined, his was made by a pervious media student, covering the fashion side of college, and as you can see from the front cover she has done so well, and clearly.
The first thing that drew me to this magazine is the size and layout of the main image, and how simple the masthead, cover lines and the left third around it is, but yet how eye catching it is. The colours of the text and background are dull and plain, yet the model has been chosen carefully, as she has bright ginger hair, and has a unique style, this instantly stood out to me as i mentioned. I also love the style of the font used in the mast head, as its tattered and stylish, plus the other text used for example on the cover lines, is kept simple, which i think looks very proffesional on a front cover. Even little features such as the where the bar code has been posistioned, is something i have taken into acount, and if you look at the draft drawings i have uploaded to my blogs, you will see i have used a similar layout on my magazine, i have had my main image as a background, with the text over it, but the although its the background, it is still a part of the cover, as it stands out, which shows it has been thought out carefully. Although this college magazine is drawing readers towards the fashion side of college life, and my magazine is based on music, im still going to adopt a similar style to my magazine, that has been used in this magazine 'Fashion Junkie'.
